OSA FC Defeats FCM Portland 3-2

The first half was capped off with a flurry of OSA chances in and around the box, led by Tyler Bjork and Cody Gibson. Dominant in both possession and chances created, OSA looked extremely comfortable and confident. Rodney Grieling recorded only a handful of saves, as FCM Portland looked content to sit behind the ball and only occasionally venture forward.

Against the run of play FCM opened the score sheet first in the 50th minute as OSA’s back line had a lapse in concentration, only to be answered minutes later by a Tyler Bjork PK. Play restarted 1-1 with a flurry of OSA chances created. Despite creating drastically more chances, OSA struggle to find the net. Even with the injury to FCM’s starting keeper, the score sheet reflected an even match well into the 70th minute.

Things appeared dire for OSA after an FCM corner kick was headed home, unchallenged, but the match started to tip in OSA’s favor as Gibson created another series of excellent opportunities. On a brilliant cross midfielder  Ryley Johnson leveled the score sheet off a contested header. While FCM had a few key chances, the conclusion of the match was heavily OSA dominated. Subbing on fresh legs, the pressure on FCM’s back line only increased as the match drew closer to close. A vibrant and thrilling OSA offense finally connected for the third goal late in the match.

Man of the Match was OSA’s Johnson, who had a goal and an assist, and played with almost no errors.
