Coming off a 4-1 victory versus Boca Raton FC, Palm Beach United looked to continue the streak versus Storm FC. As Palm Beach went into their eighth game still with a chance to make the playoffs, the team’s focus and dedication is on each individual game to get maximum points.
Due to a rain delay, the game started 15 minutes late, but after the sky cleared PBU was ready to take charge. Palm Beach were focused on this game and everyone was in good spirits and ready to play. It showed as the 14th minute they counterattacked off a cross from Storm FC. Detre Bell punched the ball off the cross into Markus Smarzoch, who then played a ball into Brandon Joseph-Buadi. Once he received the ball, he went right down to a 1v1, beating the defender and finishing a far post shot with his right foot that gave PBU a 1-0 lead.
No more than 10 minutes later Palm Beach were on the attack again from the left side of the field. Callum Carsley put a far post cross to Noah Amissah, who then headed the ball across the box into James Thomas. He finished a header far post, beating the keeper to give PBU a 2-0 lead.
Going into the second half PBU kept the lead 2-0 and in high spirits. They were playing well and with confidence and one goal in mind: playoffs.
As the second half began PBU stayed in control of the game and it turned out to be one of the better games they have played this season. In the 78th minute a beautiful diagonal ball was hit by Sebastian Andreassen to Carsley, who hit a one-time cross to Alex Satrustegui, who finished a half volley far post to give Palm Beach a 3-0 lead. After a failed across from Sebastian Andreessen in a deflected interception came back and fell in front of Riccardo Sozo, who struck from 25 yards out in the 87th minute to give PBU a 4-0 lead. A minute later Andreassen was sent down the line and had a blast near post, beating the goalkeeper to give Palm Beach a 5-0 lead.
On Wednesday Palm Beach will head to Jacksonville to face the Armada FC.
