Expansion 2020

CHESTERFIELD UNITED JOINS FORCES WITH RICHMOND STRIKERS

Chesterfield United’s NPSL program will now be known as the Richmond Strikers.

“Joining forces with Richmond Strikers is a great move for our NPSL team,” General Manager Pat McStay explained. “We are able to upgrade our venue, coaching staff, and player pool, while providing top class grass and turf options for games. We are truly excited to be hosting the U.S. Open Cup in Martinoli Stadium at Striker Park with a chance to move on to the NPSL playoffs for a second year in a row.  We now have over 5,000 families as a part of the Richmond Strikers family, which will now provide a more exciting game experience for the fans and teams playing.”

The switch involves a new home venue, one that offers a better overall atmosphere and is more accessible to fans and supporters.  The team will also change uniform suppliers to Nike.

“Our team in the NPSL will now be able to have a broader reach when attracting players each summer,” head coach Eric Dutt added.  “Combining the tradition of the Richmond Strikers and the opportunity to participate in the U.S. Open Cup, these players will now have a greater platform to compete on.  We are looking forward to competing on the national stage and believe that these players will relish the opportunities in front of them.”

The Richmond Strikers will open their NPSL campaign on the road against Legacy 76 on May 14th.
