Georgia Revolution FC Falls to Greenville FC 2-1

Georgia Revolution FC lost in their first National Premier Soccer League regular season game of 2019 against Greenville FC at Warhawk Memorial Stadium in McDonough, Georgia.

The Revolution opened the game with fast and exciting play across the field with chances for the Revolution by forwards Aaron Whitten and Deon McCaulay during the early stages of the first half. However, Greenville FC took advantage of the high press and within a five-minute span during the first half scored two goals from Jamie North and Adrian Nunez respectively.

The Revolution continued their high press and forward play while ending the half with more possession and chances but losing with a score of 2-0 going into the locker rooms.

Following the first half of play, the Revolution began to step up the pace that led to their first goal of 2019 by midfielder Brahan Gamarra in the 63rd minute of play. The game continued at a high pace with the rain continuing throughout and saw outstanding play off the bench by winger Jumar Oakley and midfielder Pascal Mohungsi that led to several more chances for the Revs that were unable to be capitalized on.

The Revolution finished the game with eight players making their debut in a Revs uniform including the Man of the Match, Brahan Gamarra who played all 90 minutes in his first game wearing the red and white stripes for the Revolution. Newcomers Kenny Doublette, Gianmaria Fiore, Cameron St.Prix-Mitchell, Thomas Herwig, Nathaniel Johnson, and Matija Gligorovic all made their debut for the Revolution.

The Revolution management was very happy with the support despite the weather on the day as General Manager Eric Morrison said, “It was exciting to see over 400 fans attend even with the rain and most of the fans stayed for the entire match! The McDonough community is really getting behind the squad.”

Georgia Revolution FC return to action Saturday, May 11th at Atlanta SC as a crosstown rivalry is renewed with the rebranded Atlanta SC, formerly the Atlanta Silverbacks, at St. Francis High School Stadium in Alpharetta, Georgia. The match is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET and will be streamed live on MyCujoo.
