Temecula FC Defeats Oxnard Guerreros FC 3-1

By Temecula FC

Temecula FC continued its push for the playoffs with a 3-1 win over visiting Oxnard on Saturday.

The Quails outplayed Oxnard to earn a much-needed three points from an in-form Guerreros team that had won two straight in the NPSL.  Quails manager Austin Levins said that this shows they are capable of “big things.”

Levins’ men produced a terrific performance to move five points above their opponents in the table to remain fifth, six points behind a playoff spot with unbeaten leaders FC Arizona, OCFC, FC Golden State, and ASC San Diego above them.

Temecula scored three goals in the first 65 minutes through midfielder Tarek Nazzal with a brace and Joseph Ciochetto adding the third to collect all three points.  Oxnard did pull one goal back with 15 minutes to go and create a few nervous moments before the final whistle. But it always seemed that there would only be one result and that is a win for the Quails.

“The mood was set early in the locker room,” Levins said. “I am so happy, so pleased.  I don’t need to say too much. All credit to the players because they were fantastic. The staff love managing this group of players when they are working hard for each other on the pitch.  We need to be humble and recognize that, playing like this, we can do big things. Our challenge is to keep going and be consistent in the final seven matches.”
