Inter Nashville FC Defeats Asheville City SC

Inter Nashville FC made it two wins in two games this week by defeating Asheville City SC 1-0 at Memorial Stadium, NC. After a six- hour drive the Nashville players looked leggy and out of sorts early in the game, but worked hard and restricted Asheville to a couple of long-range efforts. As Inter Nashville grew into the game, they started to open up and attack. This led to counter-attack opportunities for Asheville, but they failed to capitalize on three great chances to score.
After the break Nashville looked settled and began to dominate possession and limited Asheville to a few shots on the counter. In the 70th minute Nashville substitute Chuka Aruh burst through the Asheville defense, but his low shot was saved by the Asheville goalkeeper. The game seemed to be headed to a draw until Nashville’s Leo Ferreira went on a run in the 92nd minute and was fouled on the edge of the box. Ferreira stepped up and hit a low free kick which went under the wall, was spilled by the keeper, and smashed into the open goal by Nashville’s Greg Warden to give Nashville the win.
Inter Nashville FC play for a third time in seven days at home against NPSL powerhouse Chattanooga FC on Saturday and look to make it nine points out of nine.
