Greater Lowell Rough Diamonds Defeat Boston City FC 2-0

This evening’s game was a thriller leaving both sides with emotions running high. Emmanuel Smith scored both of the Rough Diamonds goals and led the team to a jubilant win.  Boston City FC played a solid match but ended the game with only nine players on the field following the dismissal of two players, Michael Bustamante and Samuel Deossa.

Playing against each other only two days earlier the field and crowd were ready for part two.  Early plays at goal found the Rough Diamonds taking defensive stances early on. Nevertheless, Emmanuel Smith made their first goal 24 minutes in when the team produced an offensive opportunity from the right side of the field.  The joy was felt but that goal set the Boston City FC on a tear. The remainder of the first half was highlighted by Boston City FC shots on net and Jackson Rivers, the Rough Diamonds goalkeeper.

Rivers made breathtaking, body-curling saves throughout the game to keep the Boston City FC at bay.  However, the most beautiful goal and many cards, both yellow and red, highlighted the second half.

Emmanuel Smith capitalized on a direct kick in the 83rd minute to bring home the win.
