By FCM Portland

Eduardo Sanchez got a hat trick and an assist, while Alcides Thomas tallied a goal and an assist as FCM Portland took down the undefeated Crossfire Redmond in quite a battle in the Northwest Conference.

FC Mulhouse got off to an early lead in the 10th minute when Eduardo Sanchez cleaned up a deflection save by the Crossfire goalkeeper.  Minutes later Christian Thyron got a 1v1 opportunity and tried to chip the keeper, who in turn made a great one-armed save to keep the score 1-0.  The battle continued for much of the first half as FC Mulhouse offense kept pressing the Crossfire defense. Late in the first half, Sanchez snuck behind the Crossfire defense on a through ball and buried his second goal on an angled shot.  The first half would end with a 2-0 lead for FCM.

In their first confrontation, FCM blew a 2-0 lead versus Crossfire so they knew all too well the game was far from over.  At halftime FCM head coach Sergio Medel reminded his team that this game was a must-win if they were to have a chance to compete in the conference playoffs.  FCM came out firing again in the second half. Minutes in, Sanchez fed Thomas to make it a 3-0 lead for FCM.

Sanchez completed his hat trick to seal the fate for Crossfire in the 70th minute, making it 4-0. Crossfire scored their only goal in the final 10 minutes to make it a respectable 4-1 final score.
