Late Goals Spoil Day for Spokane SC Shadow

Spokane SC Shadow took the lead twice Saturday at the Spokane Shadow Polo Grounds against Northwest Conference leader Crossfire Redmond, who tallied in the final minutes of each half to earn a 2-2 result.

The draw was the first point against Crossfire in three meetings for Spokane this season, but disappointing for the Shadow as they have been in each of the last two, suffering a 1-0 road defeat in the last match between the two.

The Shadow took the lead in the 21st minute when Jesse Retan connected with Mike Ramos for the opening goal and they appeared headed to the break with the lead when the visitors took advantage of the lone minute of stoppage time with a surprise tally from Joseph Parish.

In the second half the Shadow were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute when Ty Lang received a second caution, but just four minutes later Chase Reidt scored off some hard work from Nick Hamer to put the hosts in front.

The visitors, though, spoiled the potential upset win for the shorthanded Shadow when James Burkholder finished a cross from Charles Ostrem in the 87th.

The Shadow are now 3-3-2 in the conference with 11 points.
