FC Baltimore’s Larry Sancomb Named 2019 NPSL Coach of the Year

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that FC Baltimore head coach
Larry Sancomb has been named the 2019 NPSL Coach of the Year. The selection was made
through online voting by teams, media members, fans, and supporters.

“Coach of the Year is the cherry on the top.” Sancomb said. “The organization as a whole and
the players made the job easy. I couldn’t have asked for a better home base and better group of
guys to work with”

Sancomb led FC Baltimore to an overall record of 12-3-1 in 2019, including a 6-1-1- record in
the NPSL regular season. FC Baltimore also recently had the opportunity to play legendary
Portuguese side S.L. Benfica in a closed-door scrimmage.

“Larry is a rare gem,” FC Baltimore General Manager Alex Lubyansky said. “He cares deeply
about all of the players on a personal level. His commitment to the cause and passion for the
game is second to none and we are honored to have him leading the squad”

Sancomb comes to FC Baltimore after spectacular success with Christos FC, a club that made a
deep run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2017. In the fourth Round of that year’s edition
of the Open Cup, they became a national darling by scoring the first goal against D.C. United of
Major League Soccer (MLS).

In addition to his success with Christos FC, Sancomb has been heavily involved with Olympic
Development Program (ODP), high school, youth, and college soccer in Baltimore since 1994.
