The NPSL Announces Galen Riley as 2019 Global Scarves Supporter of the Year
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Galen Riley has been
selected as the 2019 Global Scarves Supporter of the Year.
“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of The Chattahooligans and the CFC fan
community,” Riley said. “This has been a challenging year for all those who love The Club that
Chattanooga Built. Everyone doubled their commitment, their intensity, and left no doubt that,
with an enduring effort and community-first focus, this special club can be ours forever.”
Riley has been a fan of Chattanooga FC since its inaugural 2009 season, is one of 3,253 CFC
fan-owners, and serves the club as a volunteer in numerous roles with The Chattahooligans
supporters group. His contributions to the broader soccer supporter culture include helping
launch the international Prideraiser.org initiative, the upcoming Hooligan Hymnal software
platform, and making many bad tweets, for which he is unapologetic.
“I am especially grateful for the coalition of supporters groups that have organized with
Prideraiser, and to every fan who pledged; this effort enriches both our communities and our
clubs,” Riley added. “The brain trust assembled under that project and the resulting exchange of
ideas is destined to improve the beautiful game.”
The selection was made through online voting by teams, media members, fans, and supporters.
“Nobody has done more for any team in the world than Galen Riley has done for Chattanooga
FC,” Chattanooga FC Board Chairman Tim Kelly said. “We are incredibly fortunate to have him
in our camp, along with the rest of the Chattahooligans. Without them, CFC would not be what
it is – nor where it is – today.”
Global Scarves is the proud sponsor of this award.
“Galen’s passion for not only the game but his club, city, and supporters groups is the true
embodiment of a soccer supporter,” Global Scarves North America Sales Director Bill Kristian
said. “He not only cares about growing passion for CFC through the Chattahooligans, but for his
community and charities he stands behind like Prideraiser.org. We have enjoyed seeing the
growth of support in Chattanooga through guys like Galen and hope his passion for the game
spreads even more across the country.”
