Austin United FC Joins the NPSL for the 2020 Season
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Austin United FC
(Austin, TX) have joined the league as an expansion team. The club will begin competition in
the South Region’s Lone Star Conference in 2020.
“This is an exciting announcement for the Lone Star Conference,” NPSL Managing Director
Cindy Spera said. “Austin is perfectly positioned geographically, and has a management team
with both extensive business and deep soccer experience. I am excited to see how this addition
will have a positive impact on all the teams in the conference. This move allows us to continue
to grow our brand in the great State of Texas.”
AUFC was formed in 2017 as club owner and founder Orlando Medrano proceeded with a goal
of becoming an established club in Austin after working with Liga MX side CF Pachuca as a
talent and development scout. After competing in several local and regional competitions,
AUFC has now reached the end of a two-year journey to arrive at the NPSL.
The Flyers are led by Medrano, President Alberto “Wolf” Orozco, and Academy Director Nelson
Sorto.
“We will offer fast, intelligent football that is supported by local youth talent,” Orozco said.
Home matches for Austin United FC will take place at Veterans Stadium in Del Valle, Texas.
“It has been a personal goal of our owner to be part of the NPSL,” Orozco added. “He was
captivated by the professionalism of the league.”

Membership Development Dina Case concluded. “Austin has been on the NPSL’s radar for
sometime now and the addition of Austin United will continue to strengthen the presence and
stability the league has enjoyed in the state of Texas over the last several years. Austin United
has been working hard the last year to make this a reality and we look forward to seeing them
turn their club into a huge success. ”
