Pensacola FC Defeats AFC Mobile 5-0 in U-19 Action
By Pensacola FC
A strong first half showing from Pensacola FC was the main story from Friday night’s NPSL
U-19 pilot opener as right back Carson Hickok bagged a brace to help push the home team to a
4-0 advantage at the break. Anthony Chicarello opened the scoring for PFC with a tidy finish in
the 16th minute after some good work from Michael O’Leary.
O’Leary was a constant threat to AFC Mobile’s back line as he created numerous chances for his
teammates, including Hickok, and chipped in two assists on a solid night’s work. Kendrick
Hernandez scored his second goal of the game early in the second half which proved to be the
final scoring of the night to close out the result 5-0.
Pensacola FC Coach David Kemp was very pleased with his team’s performance in their home
opener.
“We are excited to not just take the points tonight but to also show glimpses of the potential that
this group has,” Kemp said. “I really enjoyed the game and want to thank our friends at AFC
Mobile for coming over to get this off the ground.”
Hickok proved to be a key player for Pensacola and impressed the home crowd with his play.
“It was a great result for the first game of the season,” Hickok said. “Offensively we were very
clinical and held possession for most of the game. Defensively we were very strong and
maintained our formation, which helped us win the ball back in high areas and counterattack. I
felt like we maintained a high level the whole game and when the subs came on the level didn’t
drop. Most of the boys know each other so not having a practice didn’t affect us. Now we’re
going to take this momentum into the next game against a strong opponent.”
Pensacola FC will travel to Hattiesburg next weekend to play Southern States SC on September
5th at 6:00 pm.
