New Orleans Jesters Fall 3-1 to Port City FC in U-19 Pilot
By New Orleans Jesters
The New Orleans Jesters lost to Port City FC U-19 by a score of 3-1 Friday night at Pan American Stadium. Forward Denim Lombard scored a goal in each half to lead Port City past the Jesters.
Lombard opened the scoring in the 10th minute as managed to beat the off-side trap and finished neatly past New Orleans goalkeeper Jourdan Schumacher.
Ten minutes after the break Port City doubled their advantage after a New Orleans defender was called for a hand ball as he attempted to control the ball in the box. Midfielder Ivo Jimenez tucked away the spot-kick to make it 2-0.
The Jesters responded to the setback and pulled a goal back within five minutes after a great piece of improvisation by striker Mason Morise.
Morise created some space for himself at the edge of the box then curled a strike over the Port City goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
New Orleans pressed for the equalizer but paid the price as Port City added a third in the 72nd minute with a long ball over the top to Lombard who rounded Schumacher before slotting home.
The Jesters return to action next Wednesday night as they visit Southern States SC U-19s for a 7:00 pm match. The game will be streamed live at mycujoo.com.
