Kingston Stockade FC Blanks New York Shockers in NPSL Return

By Kingston Stockade FC

Stockade FC returned to NPSL play to shut out newcomers New York Shockers at Dietz Stadium on Saturday evening.  A reduced capacity of 200 supporters welcomed Stockade FC back to the pitch for the first time since 2019.

Hugo Guerra opened the scoring in the 9th minute after Sam LaTorre and Evan Mason combined to send him through on goal.  Guerra, who featured for Stockade FC in 2018, marked his name on the scoresheet quickly in his return.

In the 62nd minute, captain Scott Zobre made his mark on the match to double the Stockade FC lead. After a driven ball from goalkeeper Dylan McDermott, Zobre was able to pounce on a mistake at the back and chip the ball over the keeper.

McDermott and the Stockade FC defense were sensational in limiting the Shockers’ chances and holding the shutout.

McDermott was fantastic in his first NPSL start for Stockade FC and was named Man of the Match.  The Marist goalkeeper made eight saves to preserve the 2-0 win.

Stockade FC returns to Dietz Stadium next Saturday, May 15 when rivals Hartford City travel to Kingston.
