Sheldon Green Scores Hat Trick to Lead New Orleans Jesters past Pensacola FC

By New Orleans Jesters

Forward Sheldon Green scored a hat trick and drew a penalty to lead the New Orleans Jesters past Pensacola FC 4-0 on Wednesday night at Pan American Stadium.  Green was superb throughout and tallied the first hat trick of the season for the Jesters.  The win lifts New Orleans (3-2-2) up into third position in the NPSL Gulf Coast Conference standings.

New Orleans Jesters head coach Kenny Farrell was thrilled with the performance.

“What a game from Sheldon, he was superb tonight,” Farrell said. “He took his chances well but he also worked very hard for the team.  I’m very happy for him and he deserves the plaudits.  I felt this was one of our more complete team performances, the boys stuck to the plan and all the hard work from training paid off.”

Green opened the scoring with a composed finish in the second minute after a pass down the left side from midfielder Jowayne Laidley.  Green beat the goalkeeper to the ball and lifted his shot into the empty net.

The second goal came in stoppage time at the end of the first half with Green involved again.  He cut inside the last defender and was brought down, drawing a penalty kick.  Midfielder Jackson Hulme took the penalty slotting home into the right corner.

Just after the hour mark New Orleans added a third goal as Laidley and Green combined again this time from a free kick.  Laidley picked out Green at the back post and Green finished the chance with an excellent diving header.

Green completed his hat trick in the 80th minute controlling a diagonal pass from substitute midfielder Gavin Pankey then drilling home inside the far post.

Next up for the Jesters is a Saturday night match in Mobile, AL versus AFC Mobile.  The match will be streamed live starting at 7:00 pm on mycujoo.tv.
