Pittsburgh Hotspurs’ Nicky Kolarac Earns 2021 NPSL Goal of the Season
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Nicky Kolarac’s June 19th goal against FC Buffalo has been selected as the 2021 NPSL Goal of the Season. The selection was made through an online voting process.
“I am honored to win the Goal of the Season for the NPSL,” Kolarac said. “I want to thank my teammates and coaches for making this possible by always setting me up for success throughout the season. The competition for this award was tough so thank you again to everyone who voted for me.”
Kolarac, who have spent five seasons in the NPSL, is the current captain of the Pittsburgh Hotspurs. The Pittsburgh, PA native joined the Hotspurs in 2019 when the team entered the league, replacing Fort Pitt Regiment. With Fort Pitt, Kolarac served as captain in 2018 and earned NPSL Conference XI honors.
Kolarac played collegiately at Saint Francis University and also spent time with IMG Academy Bradenton, Michigan Bucks, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, and St. Louis Ambush.
The talented midfielder had three goals and two assists in 10 appearances during the 2021 NPSL season.
“We are thrilled to see Nicky earn this award,” Hotspurs Club Director Tom Ovenden said. “It was a worldy of a strike – an example of the technical ability we’ve become accustomed to seeing from Nicky. Nicky is Pittsburgh homegrown soccer talent – he exemplifies a level that Pittsburgh area players can all look up to and aim for. This goal and award is just another thing to keep motivating and inspiring the area talent.”
