Cedar Stars FC Defeat New York Shockers 2-1

New York Shockers fell to Cedar Stars FC 2-1 in their home opener of the 2022 season on Saturday May 7, 2022.

In what was the debut match for Cedar Stars FC, both teams came out aggressive in a match that displayed exceptional defense from both teams.  The first half was highlighted by the first goal in program history as Jose Alvanez capitalized on a deflected goal kick in the 36th minute.  The hustle and dedication kept the Shockers close as their defense was able to limit the number of shots taken on goal in the first half. 

Both teams came out striving for momentum in the second half.  For the Shockers, the second half was highlighted by a goal from Cameron LaVallee in the 65th minute after several minutes of back-and-forth action.  As the game carried on, Cedar Stars FC was able to capitalize on minor errors, leading to a goal by Ikiel Collins-Brown in the 71st minute.  This gave Cedar Stars the lead going into the later minutes of the match.  

The final minutes were highlighted by numerous saves by Cedar Stars, solidifying the work that was done offensively.  

The Shockers continue their 2022 season Saturday May 14, when they travel to Valeo FC.
