The home opener for CF10 Houston FC at the British International School of Houston could not have been more exciting. They encountered a Coyotes FC squad that came to surprise them with two early goals in the first half.
In the fourth minute Edgar Soto charged a free kick outside the area, and a shot that bounced off the CF10 Houston FC goalkeeper. On the counterattack, Juan Lumbreras made it 1-0 for the visitors.
Minutes later, Soto, who was a real nightmare in free-throw collections, gave Coyotes FC the 2-0 lead to the surprise of the locals.
In
the second half, head coach Carlos Flores made changes, but it was only 40 seconds after Coyotes FC made it 3-0 with a score from Soto. This was a clear defensive error that the visitors took advantage of.
It was a corner kick charge by Mark Guevara that brought CF10 Houston FC closer at 3-1 in the 53rd minute. It didn’t take long for things to change with the entry of Jorginho James. Emmanuel User made it 3-2, and it was Coyotes FC dealing with the onslaught from the CF10 Houston FC attack.
The offense led by James bore fruit again, scoring a late goal that sealed the 3-3 win.
Flores acknowledged at the end of the tied game that Coyotes FC surprised them, but they were able to react in the second half thanks to James’ offensive prowess.
