2-2 Draw for New York Shockers and Kingston Stockade FC

By New York Shockers

The New York Shockers continued their 2022 season by hosting Kingston Stockade FC in a rematch from the 2021 NPSL playoffs.  Both teams came out aggressive in the first half, making aggressive shots on goal which allowed both goalkeepers to shine as they continued to make saves.  The ball movement and execution is what paid off for Stockade in the first half as Demarre Montoute was able to find the back of the net after being assisted by Noah Robinson in the 25th minute of the matchup.

The early jump by Stockade did not deter the Shockers.  Coming out of halftime the Shockers were able to apply pressure and come out with an aggressive start as James Beeston was able to connect with an aggressive shot on goal after being assisted in the box by Adetayo Adefioye.

Both teams continued to battle through the heat into the latter minutes of the game, although four substitutions by the Shockers in the 75th minute allowed the momentum to switch.  The late-game substitutions paid off for Shockers as increased ball movement and aggression allowed for a breakaway goal by Adefioye in the 88th minute.

As the remaining minutes of the match began to wind down, both the Shockers and Stockade FCwere not going down without a fight.  Stockade FC was able to show resilience with a few key passes, allowing Iyare Harris to find an opening to connect with the game-tying goal in the 90th minute.  This brought the final score to a 2-2 draw.

The New York Shockers will continue their 2022 season Friday May 27th, as they travel to face Syracuse FC in what should be an exciting matchup.
