
FC Frederick Defeats Grove Soccer United 4-0

FC Frederick converted two penalty shots and scored two other goals in the first half en route to a convincing 4-0 victory over Grove Soccer United in NPSL action Wednesday night at St. John’s Catholic Prep.
The win puts FC Frederick at 2-1 on the season and in third place in the NPSL Mid-Atlantic Division.
Seth Crabbe gave FC Frederick a 1-0 20 minutes into the match when a Grove United player inadvertently played the ball to Crabbe, giving him a clean breakaway on the keeper and he calmly finished.
Elias Norris made it 2-0 in the 27th minute, converting a penalty kick after he was fouled in the penalty area. Norris has scored in all three FC Frederick matches.
Crabbe made it 3-0 in the 39th minute, looping a shot to the far post over the goalkeeper’s head.
Spencer Hanks finished the scoring by converting a penalty kick in the 45th minute.
There was no scoring in the second half.
FC Frederick keeper Bennett Schwartz and Billy Wood shared the shutout. Wood was required to make only one save in the match. Schwartz did not have any.
FC Frederick travels to first-place Northern Virginia United on Saturday. The team’s next home match is June 11 at St. John’s Catholic Prep against the same Northern Virginia United squad.
FC Frederick’s win marked its most lopsided victory since another 4-0 decision, that one coming against Charlottesville Alliance on June 30, 2018.
