New Orleans Jesters Defeat Pensacola FC 3-1
By New Orleans Jesters
The New Orleans Jesters defeated Pensacola FC 3-1 tonight at Pan American Stadium. Guy Baskerville, Maxi Gallizzi, and Russell Brown supplied the goals on a special night for Jesters head coach Kenny Farrell who celebrated his 100th coaching victory for the club.
New Orleans opened the scoring in the eighth minute from a corner. Midfielder Victor Dominguez whipped the ball into the near post and Baskerville got across his marker to snap a header home.
Pensacola fought back and pulled level 10 minutes later. Forward Prince Owusu received the ball on the left side of the box and hit a low drive past Jesters goalkeeper Lamoy Graham. The ball clipped the inside of the post on the way in.
New Orleans had the better of the remainder of the half with Domínguez denied by McMillan in the 37th minute and then just before the break Mason Morise saw his long-range effort tipped just over the bar.
Pensacola almost took the lead on the hour mark but midfielder Gerard Dass lifted his shot over the bar from 12 yards out.
Five minutes later New Orleans retook the lead after Morise was brought down just outside the box. Galizzi took the free kick and bent his shot around the wall and into the goal to make it 2-1.
Brown put the result beyond doubt in the 80th minute with a weighted shot from distance, taking advantage of McMillan who was caught out of position in the buildup.
The Jesters are back at home at Pan American Stadium on Saturday night as they face Tallahassee SC. Tickets are $10 and are available at nolajesters.com.
