California Odyssey SC Defeats San Ramon FC 3-2
By California Odyssey SC
Both teams were able to get on the board early and exchanged goals in the first half of a game in which the heat played a factor from the start. During the first five minutes of the game, San Ramon FC received a free kick right outside the penalty box, and Nathanial Carrasco was able to maximize the opportunity and put San Ramon up 1- 0.
Five minutes later Odyssey was able to bring the score even at 1-1 with a clean finish from Lautaro Donoso. The San Ramon FC goalkeeper blocked a shot from Ryan da Rocha from 20 yards out but the ball landed at Donoso’s feet for his second goal of the season.
In the 35th minute Odyssey SC’s Eric Velarde was able to deliver a great ball across the box off a corner kick. Stephen Morris was at the end of it and put Odyssey up by a 2-1 margin. Again, a quick response came from San Ramon as they were able to capitalize off a corner kick. Adrian Guzman came through to tie the score at 2-2.
In the second half the game got it bit more intense. The temperature also caused many problems for both teams, and fatigue began to play a role.
A key moment came as Michael Aaron Ortiz was able to read the pass from the defender and dribble towards goal on his own. He would finish the play with a strong strike across goal and put Odyssey up 3-2 with just 20 minutes remaining. Both teams had their own moments in those remaining 20 minutes, but the score remained 3-2, and California Odyssey Soccer Club earned another win at home.
