West Texas FC Falls to Brownsville NPSL 3-1

By West Texas FC

West Texas FC made their NPSL debut on Thursday night, taking on Brownsville NPSL under head coach Victor Domingues.

Brownsville was looking for another win after beating CF10 Houston FC last week 4-1.  After a bit of back-and-forth play, West Texas FC’s Gustavo Barroso scored in the 24th minute to give West Texas FC a 1-0 lead but that was short-lived.  Brownsville came back to score three goals in the 31st, 34th, and 45th minutes.

During the second half, Brownsville would have two close goal attempts but West Texas FC goalkeeper Juan Camilo put a stop to them.  West Texas FC would have a few chances of their own but still managed to come up short.  The second half ended scoreless for both teams, and Brownsville NPSL would leave with another win under their belt.

West Texas FC owner Jason Cannon shared his thoughts on the match.

“We’re excited to be here and playing at this level,” Cannon said. “It’s our first year, our first season, our first game.  I think for this being our first game, we played well, we had great coaching and the team played with heart.  The fans were having a great time and enthusiastic.  As an owner, what more could I ask for?  We’re looking forward to game 2 on Saturday.”
