West Texas FC Defeats Laredo Heat SC 2-0

By West Texas FC

West Texas FC hosted Laredo Heat SC on Saturday night at Astound Broadband Stadium.  Laredo came in with some fire as they were recovering from a 2-1 loss in Lubbock two days before, and West Texas was hoping to keep their winning streak alive.

Tajay Grant wasted no time in putting points on the board when he scored in the 6th minute with a floater over the goalkeeper’s head.

In the 19th minute, Fernando Gutierrez scored with a header after a free kick, giving West Texas two goals in under 20 minutes.

In the second half, Laredo would have their shot at a goal with a penalty kick, but West Texas FC goalkeeper Juan Camilo would answer with a block and celebration.  West Texas FC emerged with a 2-0 win and three points in the standings.

West Texas FC will host Corinthians FC of San Antonio on Saturday, July 1 at Astound Broadband Stadium at 7:30 pm.
