0-0 Draw for West Texas FC and Corinthians FC of San Antonio
By West Texas FC
West Texas and San Antonio had an unexpected opponent enter the pitch. Mother Nature delayed the game to an 8:20 pm kickoff on Saturday night at Astound Broadband Stadium.
Both teams struggled in the first half to put something on the scoreboard. San Antonio put pressure on West Texas, and their defense with three corner kicks in the first eight minutes. Kotaro Natsume had a chance to give West Texas the lead they needed, but missed with a wide strike in the 12th minute. Both teams knew they had to come back stronger after halftime.
Sora Shibata lit the field up with multiple breakaways in the second half and a shot to the crossbar in the 53rd. Within four minutes, West Texas had two more chances to score, along with a few corner kicks, but came up short.
The game would end in a 0-0 draw, giving both West Texas FC and San Antonio a point in the standings. After the delay in kickoff, fans and players were able to enjoy postgame fireworks to end the night. Now West Texas FC prepares to take on conference leaders Lubbock Matadors for the Golden Tumbleweed Trophy.
