Preview: Dembor Benson Leads El Farolito against Crossfire Red in West Region Final

The Golden Gate Conference is home to one of the league’s most prolific goal scorers, forward Dembor Benson.  

The El Farolito standout tallied 13 goals in just 10 games, finishing fourth in the Capelli Sport 2023 NPSL Golden Boot race.  

He is looking forward to El Farolito hosting the West Region Final.

“The truth is that we’re proud and greatly satisfied because we know it’s a high-level competition,” Benson said. “All of us – my teammates, the club – know how difficult it was to get here [to the final] so now that we’re here, we will enjoy it as much as possible.” 

Benson is leading El Farolito (9-0-1) against the Northwest Conference’s Crossfire Red (7-2-1) in the West Region Final on Saturday, July 22.  

The match will take place at historic Kezar Stadium at 4:00 pm.    

“We’re expecting a very gritty and very physical team,” Benson added. “We know that these matches are different because now it’s just one match, there’s no margin for error.  The group as a whole has been working hard to refine things so that on matchday we are fully focused and commit few mistakes.”
