The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the only league designated by USASA as a Tier 1 national league, is proud to announce that Minnesota Blizzard FC (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN) has joined the league as an expansion team. The club will begin play in 2024.
“We are excited to announce Minnesota Blizzard FC as the newest member of the NPSL,” NPSL Director of Membership Development Dina Case said. “They will be a great addition to the league and Midwest Region. Their ownership has a strong and successful business background as well as extensive experience in the soccer world. We are confident that they will make an immediate impact in their community and the league.”
The club will be led by owner Chad Hendricks.
Hendricks is a small business owner with over 30 years of coaching experience and over 45 years of playing experience. He spent 14 years as a varsity coach at Osseo High School, and he also served on the Lakeville Soccer Club board for over four years. He also has management experience, running two teams in the Minnesota Recreational Soccer League (MRSL) and the Minnesota Amateur Soccer League (MASL) in the past 15 years.
“We will grow the club from the ground up and build a place in our South Metro community,” Hendricks said. “My philosophy as a player and coach was to always be the best teammate possible. We will focus on being great teammates on the pitch, in our front office, and in our community.”
Home matches will be played at Lakeville North High School in Lakeville, MN. The facility seats 2,000 and features a turf playing surface.
“I talked to many people about the history of the NPSL, and all said it was a well-run league,” Hendricks added. “The league is very supportive of its clubs, and I have felt welcomed in all the steps of our expansion discussions. The league is growing very fast. All these things made it an easy decision to join the league.”
