Orange County FC Win Third Consecutive League Match in 3-1 Victory over Temecula FC

Nearly two months ago, Orange County FC left Temecula with a frustrating 1-1 draw.

This time it was OCFC that made sure to get the victory and the important three points to keep pace with ASC San Diego in the Southwest Conference standings.

OCFC was the better team throughout the afternoon on a sunny and windy Mother’s Day.  OCFC dominated possession and took the lead on a set piece in the 30th minute when Connor Gordon received a pass from Daniel Crisostomo on a free kick and put his shot past Temecula keeper Ben Chamberlin.

Early in the second half, leading scorer Dakota Collins was fouled from behind in the penalty area.

A penalty was awarded, and Collins converted the kick himself to give OCFC a 2-0 lead.

Temecula did make the game interesting for a few moments after midfielder Sergio Lopez cut the lead in half after he put in a rebound past keeper Brandon Gomez.

The visitors brought some pressure, but OCFC quickly put a stop to any possible heroics when  Collins, a Temecula, California native, scored his second of the match to give the home side a 3-1 lead.

Many substitutions were made by OCFC head coach Paul Caligiuri to give his players a much-needed rest ahead of the huge U.S. Open Cup Second Round match against Fresno FC that will be played on Wednesday May 16.
