Jackson Lions FC Defeats Philadelphia Union DS 3-1

Jackson Lions FC opened their 2025 NPSL Keystone East campaign on Saturday night, May 10th, securing a 3-1 win over Philadelphia Union DS in front of a record-breaking home crowd at Donovan Catholic High School.  It was a night full of energy, goals, and community spirit — the perfect start to the new season.

The Lions wasted no time getting on the scoresheet with Jules Anderson opening the scoring in just the 2nd minute, finishing off a swift attacking move that brought the crowd to its feet early. Joel Quist followed up with a standout performance of his own, scoring in the 16th and 50th minutes to earn Man of the Match honors and give the Lions a commanding 3-0 lead.

Among the loudest and most spirited fans in the stands were hundreds of parents and players from Beachwood Soccer Club, whose strong turnout added to the electric energy of the night. The kids were everywhere — chanting and taking photos with players — and brought a level of excitement that made the evening unforgettable.

Though Union DS pulled one back in the 84th minute, the Lions never looked rattled.  With solid goalkeeping from Matt Perrella, who keeps an incredibly well-organized defense, they closed out the match confidently.  Late substitutions, including the appearance of club legend Walter Calderon after nearly a year out through a knee injury, helped see the result over the line to the delight of the home crowd.

Saturday was a milestone for the Lions.  A strong team performance, record fan support, and an unforgettable showing from their youth partners made this one the club will not forget.
