Rochester NY FC Academy Defeats Cleveland SC 2-1

Two first-half goals from Ely Sidibe, with assists to Jameson Railey and Brennan McDermoot respectively, gave Rochester NY FC Academy the 2-1 victory against Cleveland SC in their opening match in the NPSL. 

RNY FC had most of the possession in the first half with shots and chances well in their favor prior to Cleveland scoring right before halftime with only their second shot on goal.  

RNY FC would start the second half strong with Sidibe being stopped in a 1-on-1 situation only a couple minutes in.  With Cleveland throwing players and the ball forward to find an equalizer, RNY FC were always a threat and should have seen the match off before regulation after many numbers-up chances.  

In the end a 2-1 scoreline in favor of the home team was deserved based on their quality of play and chances.

RNY FC will host the local derby with Flower City Union on Wednesday, May 21st.  Many of RNY FC players who were away for the graduation of family and friends will return to the roster ahead of this local derby.
