Ackah-Wheatcroft Lifts Oklahoma United FC to 2-1 Victory in Inaugural Home Opener

Tyler Ackah-Wheatcroft scored a header in his second straight match to help Oklahoma United FC top Fort Worth Vaqueros FC 2-1 Tuesday night at Chad Richison Stadium.
Oklahoma United remains perfect with a 3-0-0 record in its inaugural season, including two wins over Fort Worth, which drops to 1-3-0.
United’s first-ever home match gave fans a dramatic finish thanks to Ackah-Wheatcroft’s 88th-minute decider from a corner kick. The defender from Liverpool, England came off the bench to deliver a headed goal for the second straight contest.
David Imbert provided the assist, giving him one assist in each of United’s three contests this season.
Imbert scored the opening goal in the 17th minute, his fourth of the season and marking his third straight contest with at least one goal. The French forward was given a point-blank chance from fellow Frenchman Thomas Brulay, who supplied his first assist of the 2025 campaign.
Parker Plaxco scored his fourth goal of the year for the Vaqueros on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, leveling the match with less than ten minutes remaining.
Ackah-Wheatcroft’s high-flying header made the difference six minutes later, and United held on to win in front of a raucous home crowd in Edmond.
“We had so many chances…we could have finished better and made the game easier, but at the end of the day we got the win,” United Head Coach/Technical Director Antonio Barros said. “So happy right now!”
United heads back on the road next week to face FC Brownsville on June 6th at 3:00 pm. Fort Worth returns to friendly confines on Thursday as they host Arkansas Wolves SC.
