Saint Louis Club Atletico’s Home Opener Ends in 1-1 Draw

Saint Louis Club Atletico’s first home game might have ended in a draw with visiting Ozark FC, but the game saw plenty of action.   Chevaughn Walsh opened the scoring in the sixth minute after an outstanding through ball from Josh Ward. Walsh’s goal was his third of the season. Club Atletico dominated possession for the rest of the first half.  Ozark’s lone goal came from Jose Castro after he stole the ball from the Club Atletico defense then slipped the ball by Ziggy Camejo in the 44th minute.

With a 1 – 1 halftime score, the second half saw no goals but plenty of action.

Club Atletico goalkeeper Nate Himes came up big several times in the second half, including an Ozark indirect free kick inside the box in the 70th minute.  On the other side of the field, Ozark goalkeeper Matheus Alves had 13 saves during the game with his biggest save coming in the 75th minute as he stopped Walsh on a breakaway. With the lone goal for Club Atletico, Walsh was named Man of the Match.

The Bluebirds travel to face off against the Demize on Thursday, May 24th then return home on Saturday, May 26th to play Little Rock at 7:00 pm.
