3-3 Draw for West Chester United SC and Jackson Lions FC

West Chester United SC rescued a dramatic point at Scott Auto Field on a misty, chilly evening, as Sama Tima’s late goal secured a 3-3 draw against Jackson Lions FC in a chaotic, physical, and wide-open match.
The game nearly erupted into an immediate shock for West Chester just 30 seconds after kickoff. Jackson broke in behind with a well-timed ball from the right back, and after the attacker rounded goalkeeper Toby Edwards, the chance fell to Jack Krongold. With the goal completely open, he fired high and wide, an early miss that would prove costly.
The opening 20 minutes were intense but disjointed. Both teams played with high energy and physicality, but erratic passing and frequent fouls prevented any rhythm. Jackson goalkeeper Robert Andrade was sharp early, making a series of saves to deny West Chester during their strongest attacking moments.
Jackson eventually took advantage of West Chester’s instability in the 21st minute. Under pressure from John Troiano, August Axtman lost control of the ball in his own defensive third. Troiano capitalized instantly, calmly passing into an empty net to give Jackson a 1-0 lead.
As the half continued, the game became increasingly scrappy, with fouls piling up and tensions rising. Jackson doubled their advantage in the 38th minute with a clinical counterattack. A through ball once again exposed West Chester’s back line, and after Edwards was drawn out, the ball was squared across goal for Brandon Newman to finish, making it 2-0.
West Chester’s defensive struggles, particularly against balls in behind, were evident throughout the first half, and they were fortunate Jackson failed to convert more chances. Despite their poor performance, the hosts found a way back just before the break. In the 46th minute, a corner kick was flicked on by Axtman and fell to Charles Undorf at the back post, where he tapped in unmarked to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The second half saw a completely different West Chester side. They came out with urgency and controlled the opening minutes, pressing high and driving forward through Ridge Robinson and Joshua Jarden. The momentum shifted firmly toward the home team.
West Chester created multiple chances as they pushed for an equalizer. In the 55th minute, Undorf had a free header from a Tanner Brentlinger cross, but sent it over the bar from close range. A long-range free kick in the 62nd minute flashed just wide, and Andrade was again called into action in the 70th minute, producing a strong 1v1 save to deny Owen Slack.
Despite West Chester’s control, Jackson remained dangerous on the counter. The game continued to be disrupted by fouls and yellow cards, with both teams struggling to maintain any sustained flow.
Then, against the run of play, Jackson appeared to seal the game in the 80th minute. Winning a header from a goal kick, they quickly transitioned into a 3v2 attack. A well-timed pass created a clear 1v1 opportunity, and the finish into the top corner extended the lead to 3-1, leaving West Chester looking deflated.
However, the home side refused to collapse. Five minutes later, they pulled one back. A cross into the box was headed back across goal by Axtman, and Slack was perfectly positioned to smash home from close range, making it 3-2 in the 85th minute.
As the clock ticked down, Jackson’s continued fouling gave West Chester dangerous set-piece opportunities. The equalizer came in the 90th minute from one of those moments. A corner kick caused confusion in the box, and when Andrade spilled the ball under pressure, defender Sama Tima reacted quickest to force it over the line and level the match at 3-3.
West Chester nearly completed a remarkable comeback deep into stoppage time. In the 94th minute, Cesar May Castaneda cut inside from the left side and unleashed a powerful strike that narrowly missed the target in what proved to be the final chance of the game.
In the end, Jackson Lions FC will be left frustrated after controlling large stretches and holding a two-goal lead late, only to drop points. West Chester, meanwhile, showed resilience and determination, turning a sloppy first-half performance into a hard-earned draw in a match full of missed chances, physical battles, and late drama.
