TSF FC Falls to Cosmos B
TSF FC hosted New York Cosmos B Thursday night as the visitors went home 5-0 victors. An early deficit and first-half red card were too much for TSF to overcome.
The match started with TSF on the front foot as striker Cameron Harr’s shot was saved Cosmos keeper Macklin Robinson, setting up midfielder Ben Zakowski for a volley that went just over the bar in the fourth minute. Following a great buildup in the eighth minute, TSF earned a free kick form 25 yards out. The Cosmos wall did its job and the TSF attacking threat was alleviated.
New York broke through in the 13th minute as Darwin Espinal managed to tip the ball into the TSF goal. Just moments later TSF had another free kick opportunity in a dangerous position, about 27 yards from goal. Kevin Santamaria took the free kick but the Cosmos wall did its job again, setting TSF FC up with a corner kick. Cosmos would double their lead minutes later behind a goal from Wojciech Wojcik.
Not to be discouraged, TSF continued working to earn attacking opportunities, seeing Ritchie Barry hammer a volley resulting in a corner kick. Robinson would make a save on a TSF header, ending the threat. In the 35th minute, Zakowski saw red leaving TSF with 10 men. New York quickly took advantage of being up a man, taking a 3-0 lead in the 38th off another Wojcik goal. The game went into the half with the visitor holding a three-goal advantage of the hosts.
TSF responded after the half with striker Almir Batista being brought in and the team pressing hard. Ritchie Barry would blast a shot just left of goal in the 53rd minute. This was followed up by a shot from New York’s Rafael Garcia, which was easily handled by TSF FC keeper Santiago Castano.
Unfortunately for the hosts, New York put in a fourth goal in the 61st minute thanks to Bljedi Bardic. Ten minutes later a Cosmos corner almost added to the lead but the ball was tipped away safely. New York continued to attack as Danny Szetela put a shot from distance wide right in the 74th minute. With TSF attacking hard to earn a consolation goal, New York continued to counter attack, coming close to scoring an number of times leading to the final whistle. The fifth and final goal of the evening was put away by substitute Zaire Bartley on a penalty kick after he was taken down just inside the TSF box.
A disappointing defeat for TSF FC left New York Cosmos headed home with a 5-0 victory. TSF will try to notch their first win of the season next Wednesday, May 30th as they host Kingston Stockade at 7:00 pm at DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, NJ.
