American Soccer Club New York Falls to New Haven United FC in North Atlantic Conference Action

Fighting Tomcats drop their second game this season, losing 3-0 to the Connecticut side

American Soccer Club New York fell to New Haven United FC 3-0 on Saturday night at Kathy Zolad Stadium in West Haven, Connecticut.  With the loss, ASC New York drops to 1-2-1 on the season.  

Ali Taleb scored in the 25th minute to give New Haven United FC a 1-0 lead that they took into halftime.  

In the second half, Parker Vasic made it 2-0 with a goal in the 80th minute.  Johan Bermudez closed the scoring with a tally in the 86th minute.

“I felt we came out strong tonight and had the better flow of the game for most of the first half,” said ASC New York head coach John Fitzgerald. “Even after conceding a goal, our reaction was positive.  (New Haven) did a good job limiting our chances in the second half and then exposed us as we went after the tying goal.  (New Haven) had some dangerous players who punished us tonight.  And now, our focus is on next Saturday when we meet again.” 

The next match for the Fighting Tomcats will be on Saturday, June 6 when they host New Haven United FC at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm, and tickets are available at www.ascnewyork.com.
