Jesters Get Big Road Win in Music City

The New Orleans Jesters bounced back from their loss at home against Greenville FC on Saturday by winning in convincing fashion 3-0 against Inter Nashville FC Thursday night.

Both teams had excellent scoring opportunities in the first half, including a spectacular volley into the crossbar by Jesters midfielder Olliver Roberts. On the other end, New Orleans goalkeeper Chad Collins made several key saves in the first half to keep the Jesters in it.

“Last week got into all of the lads heads how we switched off after 70 minutes last week and we wanted to stay on it for 90 tonight. I was just doing my job tonight,” Collins said of the first half.

Hisham Kasimu made his season debut for New Orleans, after recovering from a broken jaw suffered before the season.  It take him long to immediately pay dividends. In the 52nd minute, after the Jesters had dominated possession since the halftime break, Kasimu put the team on top with his first goal of the season.

After Tom Peers added his fourth goal of this NPSL campaign to make it 2-0, Kasimu made a steal at midfield in the 63rd minute, and then beat two Inter defenders before he calmly slotted the ball into the far left corner for his second of the night.

Kasimu couldn’t have asked for a better debut.

“It was good debut for me.  I just wanted to come in and help the team get a win after the loss last week.  I was happy to get two goals and an assist and hopefully I get back fitter and stronger coming back from an injury.”

Collins shut the door from there, even stopping a second-half penalty kick en route to a clean sheet and a big bounce back win for New Orleans.  After the match Jesters head coach Kenny Farrell was quite happy with the result.

“We did create a lot of chances in the first half but gave up a bunch of them, but good keeping and defending kept us in it at halftime.  Very tough to come to Nashville and get a result but I feel it was a just result in the end. And we just want to keep building on that.”

The Jesters will now travel for a rivalry match at Chattanooga FC Saturday night at 6:30 pm CT.
