AC Newport Defeats Osner’s FC in Regular Season Finale

On America’s semiquincentennial, AC Newport got a win on home soil against Osner’s FC with a final score of 5-3. Both teams had braces thanks to Kaisei Korytoski and Miguel Soto Gonzalez. The 4th of July match was held in Middletown, Rhode Island at St. George’s School, where AC Newport trains. It was an amazing send-off for their last game of the 2026 season.
Osner’s FC started the match out strong, holding most of the possession. Then, in the 20th minute, AC Newport’s Johnluca Frenzilli Jr. was on the attack when he was fouled in the box. His effort resulted in a penalty kick for AC Newport. Frenzelli Jr. took the penalty, and Osner’s FC’s Kai Odgagiri saved the initial shot, but Brett Schwab was there for the rebound and the game’s first goal.
In the 34th minute, Osner’s FC equalized with a goal from Miguel Soto Gonzalez. AC Newport was quick to respond, as Nicholas Alberga put his team back in the lead with a well-placed shot in the 37th minute. The first half ended with a score of 2-1.
Osner’s FC came out aggressively at the start of the second half, and the result was another goal from Miguel Soto Gonzalez in the 48th minute. In the second half, AC Newport found more possession of the ball and controlled more of the game.
The home team found the back of the net again in the 58th minute with Kaisei Korytoski’s first goal of the game. He buried the ball in the top right corner of the net with an amazing strike. Only minutes later, he earned himself a brace with another goal in the 60th minute. His stellar offensive performance earned him a nomination for the Capelli Sport NPSL Player of the Month.
Two more goals were scored to finish off the game. AC Newport’s Daniel Goba scored in the 67th minute, and a penalty kick for Osner’s in the 77th minute by Duhamel Mimy put the final score at 5-3.
While AC Newport did not make the playoffs in their inaugural season, they are proud to have ended their season with their first home win and to have a 4-1-1 record for their last six games of the season.
AC Newport head coach Ziggy Korytoski shared his thoughts on the team’s experience.
“It was an absolutely special day to be able to put on an attacking showcase for our fans. I couldn’t be more proud of this group, the staff, the community, all our sponsors, and I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity and what we are providing for the community. We can’t wait until next year. We have only just begun.”
