FCM Portland Collects Four Points from Two Matches
It was a four-point week for FCM Portland as they defeated OSA FC 5-1 and drew with PDX FC 0-0.
FCM fell to OSA FC 3-2 in a close affair on May 13th and everyone was eagerly waiting for OSA to hit the road for a rematch on May 22nd. It was a much different game for FCM when compared to the last meeting. The home season got off to a quick start as goals came early and often.
Evans Omani, who returns after taking two seasons off, tallied two goals. Former Portland Timbers standouts Freddie Braun (two goals, one assist) and Steven Evans (one goal, one assist) also contributed in the attack. The final score was FCM Portland 5, OSA FC 1. Braun would be named Man of the Match after his excellent performance.
May 26th would feature a rematch of the battle of Portland. The first outing this season on May 19th ended in a 1-1 draw. FCM started strong, creating a lot of scoring opportunities early in the game. Unfortunately, they could not find the back of the net. PDX hunkered down, making it difficult for FCM to get behind in their defense. The second half was much of the same as FCM hits the crossbar once and goalpost once. PDX gets a late opportunity only to be rejected by the FCM keeper Scott Dalrymple, who was named Man of the Match.
