Shackleford Hat Trick Leads FC Buffalo to 4-1 Win over Syracuse FC

FC Buffalo snapped back to form after a disappointing Saturday to defeat Syracuse 4-1 on Sunday at Robert Rich Sr. All-High Stadium behind the power of an Akean Shackleford 11-minute hat trick.

Shackleford (Savannah La Mar, Jamaica/Southern Methodist University) scored in the 28th, 32nd, and 38th minutes and Isaiah Wilson (Ajax, Ontario/St. Bonaventure University) netted before halftime in the win.

Shackleford opened his day by turning a Sammy Wasson-won and Bayley Winkel-delivered free kick past Syracuse goalkeeper Pat Leahy. He then picked up his second by heading a Wasson free kick home.

After Nate Bordeau pulled Cuse to within one, Shackleford outmuscled a defender after Lewis White opened the lid on the SFC back line, then dribbled around Leahy to cut home from an acute angle.

Wilson finished off the scoring before halftime when a Winkel free kick hit the wall and fell to the Bonnies’ Canadian striker.

Winkel (Whitby, Ontario/Robert Morris University) registered two assists, and both Wasson (Clarence, N.Y/Buffalo State College) and White (Musselburgh, Scotland/Cape Breton University) bagged assists in the win, while Steve Casey (Williamsville, N.Y./Niagara University) made five saves.

FCB’s next home match comes Friday, June 1 against Syracuse FC. Admission is $8 at the door, $7 presale, or discounted deeper as part of our season ticket packages.
