Jesters Get Home Win Against Georgia Revolution

The New Orleans Jesters got second-half goals from Mason Walsh and Tom Peers as they beat Georgia Revolution FC at Pan American Stadium Saturday night 3-1.

The Jesters got on the board in the 27th minute on a spectacular goal by Hashim Kasimu.  It was Kasimu’s third goal of the season and put the team up 1-0.

“I received the ball and took on the defender,” Kashimu said. “I hit it first time trying to find the far corner and I found it. It was a good goal for me.”

Georgia would answer with a 44th minute goal by Isaac Promise and the match was level at half.

Head Coach Kenny Farrell was asked about the mood of his team at halftime.

“They were quiet, but then you set the tone with them and you say ‘we aren’t playing as well as we can.’  And so at 1-1 I said ‘don’t worry about it’ and we changed the formation a little bit.”

Walsh answered almost immediately after the team came out of the locker room when a ball ended up on his feet in the 47th minute and he put it away for the eventual game-winner. “I just sort of latched onto a second ball just inside the box and snuck it away.”

He added with a smile, “They all count don’t they?”

Peers added the insurance goal late in the match.  It was his sixth of the season and came off of a terrific give-and-go with Oliver Roberts.

Peers was very modest after the match.

“One-two’s were around the corner all day and he gets on the ball well and so he put me in and set me up well and I put into the back of the net.  I’m happy and he’s happy I think.  Keep setting me up goals.”

The Jesters are now 3-1-1 and go back on the road next week with matches at Emerald Force SC Wednesday and a return match with Georgia on Friday.
