Med City FC Comeback Falls Short Against Minneapolis City SC

Med City FC welcomed Minneapolis City SC to Rochester on Saturday night, looking to avenge an early season loss in Minneapolis. The two teams had played a month earlier with the Crows winning 3-2 thanks to a 75th minute penalty kick.

Their second meeting of the season would again be a close one. Med City FC came out quickly and dominated much of the first 15 minutes of the game. However, the momentum shifted into Minneapolis City’s favor as they scored a goal against the run of play. After winning the ball in the midfield, Minneapolis City strung together a couple nice passes, with the ball eventually finding its way to Nick Hutton, who unleashed a strike into the top corner of the net. His effort would give a 1-0 lead to Minneapolis City SC.

Just before halftime the Crows would add another. William Kidd snuck in behind the Med City FC defense to slot one away. That would give a 2-0 lead to Minneapolis City at the break.

The Mayhem came out of the halftime break determined to get back into the game and wasted little time in doing so. In the 54th minute, a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box would get Med City FC back on track. A beautifully whipped-in cross from defender Alvaro Adan (Madrid, Spain) found the foot of Francsico Neto (Rio de Janerio, Brazil) and he buried the ball home to give the Mayhem a chance at a comeback. With the crowd back into it, Med City FC pushed forward multiple times over the game’s final 30 minutes. The Minneapolis City SC defense would hold strong, however, and the comeback would come up short. Minneapolis City SC ended up snatching all three points with a 2-1 win.

The Crows will hit the road to take on Minnesota TwinStars FC next Thursday while Med City FC will welcome the very same Minnesota TwinStars FC to Rochester later that same week, on Saturday.
