Cleveland SC Dominant in 5-0 Win Against Greater Binghamton FC Thunder
Cleveland SC started the weekend right with a 5-0 road victory behind a hat trick from star frontman Vinny Bell.
Cleveland SC bookended the first half with a goal in the first ten minutes from Danny Rupel, his first of the 2018 season, and two in the final five minutes of the half from Vinny Bell.
The squad wasted no time adding to their lead with a 46th minute goal from the University of Akron’s Kotaro Umeda, his first of the season. Bell completed his hat-trick minutes later to complete what would be the final scoreline of the evening in Binghamton. Bell’s performance gave him his first three goals of the season, making him the team’s co-leading scorer with Mike Derezic.
After four matches, Cleveland SC has still never conceded a goal and extended their four-match unbeaten run in the Midwest Region’s East Conference. Marijo Musa stepped in goal Friday to record his first clean sheet of the season.
“It always feels good to get a win, and three goals is just a bonus,” said Bell. “It was a long trip and we came out slow, but the guys stuck with it and picked it up to end the half well and sealed it in the second half.”
Cleveland SC head coach Ryan Osborne was pleased with his club’s overall performance.
“I thought Binghamton made it very difficult. They were very organized and were hard to break down defensively in the first half. I think as the game progressed we looked really strong.”
Osborne and his squad will be back in Cleveland Sunday with a match against Fort Pitt Regiment.
“I think the guys are on a high right now and I think we’ll be ready come Sunday,” said Osborne.
Tickets for Sunday’s 2:00 pm match at John Carroll University’s Don Shula Stadium are still available at ClevelandSC.com.
