Jake Levine Named NPSL National Player of the Week
Spokane SC Shadow forward Jake Levine has been selected as the 13th NPSL National Player of the Week for the 2018 NPSL season.
“This is my first year with the Shadow men’s team,” Levine commented. “I’m glad that things have gone as well as they have. At the end of the day it’s my teammates that should be thanked. They’re the ones who got me these goals. They’re the ones I scored them for.”
Levine tallied three goals in a 5-0 win over Kitsap Pumas on June 9.
“Jake has been fantastic for us this season, leading the line with a maturity and focus that belies his young age,” Spokane SC Shadow Head Coach and Director of Coaching Mike Pellicio commented. “His ability to link play, run at defenders, and finish off our attacking movements make him a tremendous threat when we have the ball. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching Jake since he was fifteen years of age and he’s a perfect example of what young players in our club can accomplish if they truly dedicate themselves to their development from an early age in Spokane.”
A youth player with the club the previous four years, Levine recently graduated from Central Valley High School and is currently attending Northwest Nazarene University in Boise, ID. He was an All-League First Team selection his senior season at Central Valley and helped lead the team to the state semifinals. As a freshman, he was the leading scorer for the Nighthawks with five goals and three assists, starting in 10 of his 13 appearances.
Levine has scored five goals in four games in the NPSL with the Shadow First Team. He scored two goals playing for Shadow U23 before earning the opportunity with the First Team.
The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country. It is awarded every week during the regular season.
