Fort Worth Vaqueros FC Defeats Katy 1895 FC by a Score of 5-2

A wild flurry of goals to start the second half capped an offensive showcase on Saturday as the Vaqueros knocked off Katy 1895 with a 5-2 margin.

Fort Worth (5-1-1, 16 points) took a 3-1 lead into the half but within the first five minutes after the break Katy scored once and Fort Worth twice to set up the final 5-2 scoreline by the 51st minute.

Vaqueros forward Kalle Sone continued his sharpness in front of goal with a pair of goals and an assist on the evening.

“We had some good stuff tonight,” Vaqueros coach Nick Stavrou said. “We played some good football, good soccer.  We scored some nice goals. We had a couple lapses on defense but all in all a good performance.”

Vaqueros winger Jamie Lovegrove opened the scoring with one of his patented dead ball strikes.

Sone scored the next two goals for the Vaqueros off assists from outside back Zack Stavrou and Lovegrove, respectively.

Lovegrove added a second assist on the fourth goal, which was scored by Billy O’Dwyer.

Zack Adler finished the scoring for the Vaqueros off the assist from Sone.

The Vaqueros return to NPSL Lone Star Conference play at 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 23 when FC Brownsville travels to Farrington Field.
