Inter Nashville FC Defeats Asheville City SC 5-1
Inter Nashville FC arguably put in their best performance of the season in a 5-1 victory over Asheville City SC on Saturday night. With four new faces to blend into the Nashville squad it took nearly 10 minutes before everyone settled but once they did the quality shone through.
Chuka Aruh got his first of the season with a volley following a beautiful juggle over the defenders head after great work and vision from Greg Warden.
Ian McGrath scored on his debut, pouncing on a mistake from the last defender and lobbing the onrushing goalkeeper to make it 2-0 in the 40th minute.
Asheville came out really strong in the second half and pinned Nashville back until a quick counter led by Warden ended with an Andrew Chamberlain header to make it 3-0 on 57 minutes.
Ramone Howell scored Nashville’s fourth in the 60th minute outpacing two defenders before thumping the ball low into the corner of the net off a McGrath assist.
McGrath got his second goal of the night and Nashville’s fifth in the 82nd minute with a controlled finish from the edge box after some great combo play between Cristian Gomez, Frank Down, and Danny Dunleavy.
Jordan Dunstan, Micheal DeGraffenreidt, Richie Reichenberger, and Frank Down were great on defense all night but Asheville’s persistence finally paid off for them and they scored in the 86 minute off a nice cross from the left.
