Med City FC and Minnesota TwinStars FC Play to Entertaining Draw

On Saturday night, Med City FC hosted Minnesota Twin Stars FC, as the teams met for the second time this season in front of more than 300 fans in Rochester. When the two teams met a few weeks ago, Med City FC came out with a 3-1 win. This time, things would end a bit differently.

The action started early in this one. In the seventh minute, a Finlay Bloodworth (Kings Lynn, England) cross would find a wide-open Claudio Repetto (Genova, Italy). Repetto sent the ball past diving TwinStars keeper Sean Teske to give the Mayhem an early 1-0 lead.

Med City controlled much of the opening 20 minutes. Then, in the 21st minute, a well-worked passing sequence led to a TwinStars opportunity. A shot towards the Med City FC goal was saved by a diving Nate Levy (Rochester, Minnesota) as he stretched to save a cross-body shot and preserve the 1-0 lead. Despite having several more scoring opportunities Med City FC was unable to capitalize and the Mayhem took that 1-0 lead into half.

Med City FC continued creating scoring chances in the second half, working the ball well, but unable to add a second goal. Meanwhile, as the second half wore on, the TwinStars got more confident. In the 72nd minute a poor clearance would fall to the foot of Adama Keita, who would hit a screamer of a shot into the goal off a post, pulling the TwinStars level.

As the game entered the closing stages, TwinStars thought they had the winning goal. As the Mayhem pressed for a winner, the TwinStars got a late counter attacking opportunity. First, Mayhem defender Alvaro Adan (Madrid, Spain) was able to slow down a three-versus-one attack and allow other Med City FC players to get back on defense. The TwinStars did get a shot off, and it snuck by Levy, but was cleared off the line by Man of the Match Finlay Bloodworth. That last-gasp defending would save a point for Med City FC as the final whistle blew shortly after.

Med City will hit the road for a Wednesday clash with Sioux Falls Thunder FC.
