Spokane SC Shadow Remain Unbeaten
A deflected shot in the second half spoiled what was shaping up to be a great night for Shadow goalkeeper Bryan Hernandez as Spokane played to a 1-1 draw at Spokane Falls CC Stadium against FCM Portland in National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) action.
In a back-and-forth affair between the two sides tied for the lead in the NPSL Northwest Conference Spokane grabbed the initial lead in the 39th minute when Hernandez launched a ball up the field that club youth product Chase Reidt was able to get onto before the keeper, lifting it over the onrushing keeper and into the goal. It was Reidt’s team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Hernandez looked headed for his fourth shutout performance of the season, making a few stops when needed, but a shot from outside the box by Omar Gomez in the 66th took a deflection of Erik Lyons and made its way past Hernandez, who was caught going the wrong direction.
Both teams remained tied for first as other action in the Northwest tonight saw Kitsap, one point back of the pair, fall 1-0 to PDX FC in Portland.
The two sides play again tomorrow at 1:00 at SFCC. As a special gift for Father’s Day, admission is FREE.
