
New York Cosmos B Win Eighth Straight
New York Cosmos B put on another fine display on Saturday night, scoring five goals against the defending NPSL champion, Elm City Express, at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
When the final whistle blew, Cosmos B had an eighth straight win in league play after the 5-0 victory.
The home side got rolling early when Wojciech Wojcik slotted the ball into the back of the net in the 12th minute. The lead was doubled in the 21st minute of play when Darwin Espinosa had a screamer that kisses the crossbar and found the back of the net.
Heading into the break with a 2-0 lead, the game eventually opened up more for Cosmos B.
After second-half substitute Jalen Brown was taken down in the box, captain Danny Szetela’s stepped up to the spot and converted his kick for the game’s third goal in the 65th minute.
New York added the fourth goal in the 71st minute when Bledi Bardic fired from the top of the box.
Cosmos B capped off the scoring and the victory when Brown combined with substitute Ivan Berterame for an easy tap-in before full time.
New York heads into its clash next weekend against Harford City FC aiming for a ninth win in a row on Saturday, June 30.
