HEAT ANNOUNCE PRE-SEASON HOME OPENER VERSUS UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE OPPONENT

Laredo, TX (Friday, April 20, 2018) – The wait is over for the soccer-loving fans of the Gateway City when the RGV FC Toros, a member of the United States Soccer Federation’s Second Division, the United Soccer League (USL), come into town to play the hometown Laredo Heat Soccer Club on Friday, May 4, 2018.

After a long two-year hiatus away from the field, the Heat and first-year Head Coach Dana Taylor return to fast-paced soccer action with this challenging pre-season match versus a very formidable opponent and before they start their regular season in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) on Friday, May 18th versus the Houston Regals.

Kick-off for this game versus the USL’s RGV FC Toros will be at 7:30 P.M. and it will take place at the home of the Laredo Heat, the Texas A&M International University Soccer Complex.

In keeping with their tradition of providing inexpensive family entertainment to their fans, the Laredo Heat announce that admission to the May 4th game will remain at $5.00 for General Admission and all kids 12 and under that wear red to the game will be admitted free.

“We are fired-up about being back to playing soccer in our hometown and in front of our fans, it has been a long two years for everyone”, said Heat Owner Shashi Vaswani.

“And to open versus the RGV FC Toros at home after being away should be very exciting to our fans, sponsors, players, coaching staff, volunteers and administration”.

Vaswani concluded, “As in previous years, we promise to have a team that Laredo can be proud of, a team that will represent them well both at home and when we play away and is in previous years, the coaching staff and the team put together by Coach Taylor know that the expectations are high here in Laredo and that making the playoffs is only part of the expectations, making a deep run into the playoffs and bringing home an NPSL Championship is the ultimate goal”.

Lone Star Conference Playoff Structure: The conference will be split into three groups.  The top two in each group will advance to the postseason. The wild card round on July 7th will feature matchups between #3 and #6 and #4 and #5 with the higher seed hosting.  The semifinals will take place on July 11th with #1 hosting the winner of #4 and #5 and #2 hosting the winner of #3 and #6.  The conference final will take place on July 14th with the higher seed hosting. Regional Semi-Finals and Finals plus National Semi-Finals will be played in subsequent weekends with the NPSL National Championship scheduled to be played on Saturday, August 4th.
